The Value Of Dog Trailing Evidence In The Peterson Case
Here's some testimony that may help explain the dog trailing evidence, and which shows the Modesto Bee got its facts wrong when the paper reported that one dog (Merlin) trailed Laci's scent from her home to Maze Boulevard.
Testimony taken from pwc-sii.com, Case Files.
For general information about Scott Peterson's appeal and an overview of the case, plus transcripts and evidence, also visit ScottPetersonAppeal.org.
From the Testimony of Cindee Valentin, dog handler/trainer
In the following testimony, Valentin describes the training of Merlin, the dog brought into the investigation on December 26th who did the vehicle trail.
Pat HARRIS (Defense): So he was passed by CARDA approximately four and a half to five months before he undertook, excuse me, approximately five and a half months before he undertook the service that is the subject of your testimony today?
VALENTIN: That's correct.
P. HARRIS: During that time afterwards, I believe it was your testimony that he had twice previously gone out on actual finds?
VALENTIN: Of the searches that he did, two of them were finds, yes.
P. HARRIS: Both of the ones that were successful, or that he found, in the Mount Diablo in and Discovery Bay, the only two where he was successful, both of those were essentially wilderness searches, were they not?
VALENTIN: That's incorrect.
P. HARRIS: Okay. Both of them were over terrain?
VALENTIN: One of them was over wilderness terrain, and one of them was in an urban environment.
P. HARRIS: The two searches that he was successful on, neither one of them involved trailing a vehicle, did it?
VALENTIN: No. Actually, yes. The second one, the one that was at the house in the housing tract, he had an option of taking vehicle trails out of there, because the gentleman drove in and out of his driveway and down the street. He opted for the footpath the freshest footpath trail.
P. HARRIS: But he did not vehicle, follow the vehicle trail, correct?
VALENTIN: No. He's trained to follow the freshest trail.
P. HARRIS: Essentially, in your note of that particular, first of all, have you turned over those notes to the District Attorney?
VALENTIN: Yes. You have them.
P. HARRIS: You have provided those?
VALENTIN: Yes.
P. HARRIS: Of the two searches?
VALENTIN: That's incorrect. There are search reports done that Contra Costa County would have to release, though.
JUDGE: Have you got those?
P. HARRIS: No, we don't.
JUDGE: Have you got a copy of those? Rick Distaso: We don't have those.
D. HARRIS: I don't think we have search reports for other searches.
JUDGE: They don't have it, so she can't give it to you.
P. HARRIS: You said on the other occasions he was, you don't want to use the term unsuccessful, he did not find eventually the person he was looking for, the thing he was looking for?
VALENTIN: That's correct.
P. HARRIS: How many times would you, approximately, say that was?
VALENTIN: I don't know. I'd have to go back and look.
P. HARRIS: Could you approximate for us?
VALENTIN: In the teens.
P. HARRIS: So he would have found what he was looking for twice, and been unable to mind what he was looking for in the teens somewhere?
VALENTIN: Yes.
From Justice For Scott Peterson:
To get the most traction out of the dog trailing on the 26th, Brocchini ensured that the media received only his interpretation, and thus we read in the ModBee:
When Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department deputies brought in a specially trained bloodhound on Thursday [Dec 26] to help in the search, it didn't head into the park. Instead, it headed to Yosemite Boulevard. Later, the dog led its handler from the Peterson house all the way to Maze Blvd.
Which, of course, was a blatant lie. Merlin led Valentin to the Gallo Winery.
Merlin actually led Valentin to Maze Boulevard, not from the Petersons' house, but from Scott's warehouse, where they started the trail. Here's the testimony:
P. HARRIS: And what happened on the third search?
VALENTIN: On the third search Detective Brocchini pointed out the door of Scott's warehouse. I took him up to that door. It was B 1. I scented him and he headed immediately east, straight out of the warehouse to North Emerald Avenue.
P. HARRIS: Okay. Where was he on North Emerald Avenue?
VALENTIN: Where?
P. HARRIS: Where was he actually on North Emerald Avenue? Was he in the middle,
VALENTIN: When he made his corner, he made the corner on the sidewalk.
P. HARRIS: And, in fact, as he went down North Emerald Avenue, he was on the sidewalk?
VALENTIN: I don't recall for sure. On North Emerald, I don't remember.
P. HARRIS: Do you recall him at any point jumping into the middle of the street? You would recollect that, wouldn't you?
VALENTIN: I don't remember if he was in the middle of the street on North Emerald at that point. He definitely was in the middle of the street traveling along North Emerald Avenue.
P. HARRIS: In your debriefing, Detective Brocchini, you never mentioned at any point the dog went into the middle of the street on North Emerald, did you?
VALENTIN: I don't, I don't remember.
P. HARRIS: Okay. Where did the dog go from there?
VALENTIN: Continued south on North Emerald to Maze Boulevard, and at Maze we headed west.
P. HARRIS: The dog at this point appeared to have picked up a scent, didn't it?
VALENTIN: Yes.
P. HARRIS: Okay. And the dog had appeared to pick up a scent that, in fact, was based on the sunglasses of Laci Peterson, correct?
VALENTIN: That's correct.
P. HARRIS: As the dog went down Maze Boulevard, it was tugging very hard, correct?
VALENTIN: Yes.
HARRIS: Detective Brocchini at that point stepped in and stopped the search, didn't he?
VALENTIN: That's correct.
P. HARRIS: This was December 27th? 26th, excuse me, I'm sorry. December 26th?
VALENTIN: I don't remember if it had been past midnight or not, but it was definitely the night that,
P. HARRIS: It was getting, I'm sorry, it was getting late at night; wasn't it?
VALENTIN: Yeah.
P. HARRIS: Okay. Despite the fact that there was a missing woman out there, whose scent had now been picked up by a dog in an area of town where very possibly she could be kept, Detective Brocchini made the decision not to pursue that scent, didn't he?
VALENTIN: Yes.
P. HARRIS: When you got to the point where Brocchini shut you down where the dog was tracking the scent, did you protest that?
VALENTIN: No.
P. HARRIS: You wanted to quit too?
VALENTIN: It was his call.
P. HARRIS: But didn't you put up a fight, you didn't say, "We have got a great scent here," "We got to move," you know, "Hit it," "The iron is hot, could have a woman in danger here"?
VALENTIN: I don't think I put up a fuss, no.
In the following testimony, Valentin explains why she felt Merlin was doing a vehicle trail, and how she can tell. In this testimony, she describes the track Merlin took leaving the Petersons' home on Covena.
VALENTIN: Okay. From the southern edge of the property at 523 Covena Avenue he headed immediately north on Covena. He then turned, at the very first intersection he turned west on Highland Drive. He went into a house on Highland Drive, 1326, I believe, Highland Drive. He went down driveway and into the backyard of the residence, circled throughout that backyard, then came back through the gate and then continued on west on Highland Drive.
D. HARRIS: Let me stop you there for a second.
VALENTIN: Yes.
D. HARRIS: You indicated he goes down this driveway to the backyard. Where does that back yard abut to?
VALENTIN: The backyard at 1326 Highland Drive is catty‑corner to the property, catty‑corner and behind the property at 523 Covena Avenue.
D. HARRIS: The Peterson property?
VALENTIN: Yes, the Peterson property.
D. HARRIS: The dog circled around the area catty‑corner to the Peterson property, and goes back out on to the street?
VALENTIN: That's correct.
D. HARRIS: Where does the dog go from there?
VALENTIN: He then continues heading west on Highland Drive. He gets to Santa Barbara Avenue. He goes several areas past that. I don't remember. It is stated in my report. And then he turned back and headed south on Santa Barbara Avenue. He crossed several intersections and came to the intersection of San Barbara Avenue and La Loma Avenue, at which point, he turned southeast on La Loma Avenue and continued to the intersection of La Loma and Yosemite Boulevard. At Yosemite Boulevard, he turned west and continued to Santa Rosa Avenue, at which point he turned south and headed down Santa Rosa Avenue. And I stopped him at the Gallo, inside of the Gallo property at the end of Santa Rosa Avenue.
D. HARRIS: Why did you stop him?
VALENTIN: As we were traveling down Santa Rosa Avenue, he wasn't showing all the signs of being on trail. And when we hit the dead end into the Gallo property, there was nowhere else to go. I could have taken him back and worked to see if there was an in‑and‑out trail there. However, with the information that we have, I stopped him and we went back to debrief with the detectives at the command post.
D. HARRIS: Now, in terms of when Merlin is working, do you use the terminology, has a strong pull on the harness?
VALENTIN: A strong pull on the harness, yes. That is a terminology that we use.
D. HARRIS: What does that mean, for the Court's information?
VALENTIN: When they are pulling strong in the harness, they are on trail and driving hard to get to the end to find the person.
D. HARRIS: And in this,
VALENTIN: Motivation.
D. HARRIS: With this particular track that's depicted in People's Number 9, where, approximately, was it that he stopped really pulling on the harness?
VALENTIN: It was after working through the intersection at Yosemite Boulevard and Santa Rosa, he wasn't giving me a strong pull in the harness. He was not, he was not, he was showing me that he really didn't have anything.
D. HARRIS: You said that you went back and you debriefed. That means you go back and you talk with the detectives at MPD about what was the, Merlin had done, what that trail meant to you; is that correct?
VALENTIN: Yes. I went back in and debriefed with them, and I told them that the trail, to me, seemed like it was a vehicle trail not a foot trail. The reason is that when with the vehicle trails, he tends to run center of the road, sometimes side‑to‑side on the road. With his foundation in tracking, training him to track, a scent, that he tends to work very close to where the person has walked. Most people don't walk down the Bott Dots on the street.
And he was pretty dedicated to always going back and checking those Bott Dots as we were traveling down through the neighborhood.
When we hit Yosemite Boulevard, he wasn't in the middle of the sidewalk where a normal person would walk. He was up against the sides of the stores on that. We did not have enough backup officers with us to be able to shut down Yosemite Boulevard, so we couldn't give him the option of working it differently.
D. HARRIS: So from your opinion, was this a track which that person the dog was scented on walked away from the residence?
VALENTIN: No. What he displayed in his body language is that the person left the residence in a vehicle.
(Emphasis added.)
So: What I take from this is that Merlin had not tracked a person via vehicle trail previously, but Valentin was pretty sure that he had Laci's scent, and that he tracked her away from her house to the Gallo winery. She describes Merlin's approach to Gallo, on Yosemite, as being carried out on the sidewalk, because there was traffic in the street (no following of Botts dots possible). She testifies for the prosecution that Merlin wasn't giving her a strong pull on the harness at Yosemite; however, it sounds, from her description, like the traffic overwhelmed the search at that point.
She does discuss Merlin pulling strongly at Maze Boulevard, but the search is called off nevertheless--even though, when you think about it, a strong pull from a search dog and a missing woman, combined, ought to make law enforcement officers think about their priorities.
Ya'd think, anyway.
Valentin's complete testimony can be read here.
Meanwhile, what the Modesto Bee wrote, in order to be correct, should have stated that Merlin led detectives to Maze Blvd. from Scott's warehouse, where the search started.
But, instead, the paper's report presented the general public with a selling point toward Peterson's guilt: a distorted report, never retracted or addressed as an issue of fact, taken at face value by Californians and Modestans who are all, at this moment in time, with Laci just missing days ago, on the edge of their seats.
Scott Peterson Is A Crepe
As usual, the comments from people who believe Peterson is guilty are riddled with spelling and grammatical errors.
Less than half the people posting on this entry are incredulous at the idea that people think Scott Peterson might not be guilty. But they truly can't believe it, based on what they know of the case. Their beliefs have been strengthened by the opinions of Anne Bird and others who wrote about their experiences, though none mention the book by the person who was first to put boots on the ground and investigate Laci Peterson's disappearance--Matt Dalton, the defense investigator who spent months in Modesto while the investigation was hot and heavy.

Alice Auch You believe Amber who even lied about her own daughters Father? A woman who would lie to her own daughter about her Father would lie to anyone especially about a man who lied to her. She certainly y would justify her action as she does in her book and at her first news conference. "I Almost Didn't Read This Book Because I Thought It Was B.S."
Midge, Amazon reviewer from Texas
Amazon.com review of Matt Dalton's Presumed Guilty by "Midge."

"Midge" is not a shill. He or she, more likely, has pages and pages and pages of thoughtful reviews on Amazon.
Anyone giving this book a bad review already had their mind made up before reading it... if they actually read it... which I doubt. The details from the police records and the independent research and interviews of witnesses by this author were outstanding.
Originally, I was fervently of the same opinion as the jury in this case. I was positive he was guilty. I had thought the idea of a bunch of fanatics in Modesto as ludicrous...
I was wrong. After reading this book and Crier's book "A Deadly Game" which give us tons of info from police records that none of us ever heard about... nor were presented in court... I found that there was a lot more to the story than we had been told. After reading about these police reports and credible witnesses and details none of us ever knew... nor were these presented in court. These official reports and details and witness reports contain crucial details which really change the basis of what we thought we knew.
You really need to read this book and Crier's book to get the full story. I also recommend the book by the Jury as well. There was a lot of improper behavior on their part and one juror having 3 others kicked off because he did not want to waste time deliberating. He wanted to return to work and not lose income so he kept reporting jurors with letters to the judge. He was not interested in justice. He just wanted to get out of there.
The tampering the Modesto police did with the evidence and covering up crimes occurring across the street from Laci and crimes committed in clear view of the police is an atrocity. The Modesto police should be investigated and sentenced for the crimes they committed. They committed Federal crimes by denying Scott's rights by tampering with evidence and hiding details from his attorneys. These are on record in the police files as to how they buried evidence, changed dates, ignored witnesses, gave criminals deals, listened in on attorney-client privileged conversations, destroyed evidence, buried crimes and even hid a jailhouse phone recording of a criminal talking to his cohort about the pregnant woman they killed on Christmas Eve. I saw quite a bit more police file information in the book "A Deadly Game" as well. All of this is in the police files and records and verified by witnesses.
We have been lied to about a lot of things. Our beliefs were based on those lies. You need to read these two books... and read them with an open mind. I had been 100% certain of Peterson's guilt. I was wrong because the information I got from the media was wrong and they were given false info by the police.
Did you now that the tan pants Laci wore on the 23rd were hanging in her closet and identified by her sister Amy? We were told these were on her body. They were not. It was a falsehood told to the media.
Another falsehood was about Scott getting a huge insurance policy on her just before her death. That was not true. The police admitted they had told the Rocha's that to get them to turn against Scott. The only insurance they had was a family package which included retirement planning and Scott was insured for twice as much as Laci. Laci had been the one to get the insurance several years prior. So, this was not done as a prelude to her demise as had been floated by the police... and they admitted it was a ploy to create hatred against him.
The hair in the pliers could have gotten in there from anywhere. She could have used those same pliers in the house to fix her jewelry. I got my hair caught in pliers many times.
As for the concrete anchor, Scott showed the receipt where he had only bought a small bag for one and only had one bucket to mix it in. It was having problems setting up because it was below 50 degrees, so it was crumbling and didn't mix well. The photos do not show rings for multiple anchors. No one ever mentioned he had a receipt which showed the amount of concrete he had purchased.
A witness who had an office near Scott's warehouse told police that she saw Laci there on Dec 20th and since Scott had stuff piled in front of the bathroom in his warehouse... Laci had gone over to her office there to use her restroom that day. No one ever mentioned this witness. The boat was there that day where Laci could see it.
Laci's missing watch was pawned at a shop near her home but police prevented the defense from obtaining info about it and about who sold it to the pawn shop.
As for Scott having asked about selling his house and car... the police had taken his vehicles, computers, paperwork, mail and even the checks he needed to pay his employee and do his job. If you can't work, you can't pay your bills... so you either have to work or sell your house and vehicles or lose them. He could not file bankruptcy because he and Laci had previously done so. What would you do if you couldn't work or pay your bills? The comments in the police files in Crier's book showed that the police were deliberately abusing the warrants to take everything to make it impossible for him to work and pay bills to stress him out until he cracked. The police were quite amused about it according to their own comments Crier included in the other book.
Did you know that Scott had told a previous girlfriend, Katy Hansen (The one he was seeing when he graduated Cal Poly) that he had "lost" his wife? That was years before. It was a line he used for sympathy. Not an intent... but dumb on his part as was his lying. My own son, same age as Scott who also lives in the bay area, tells women whoppers like that... things like being born in Ireland and owning property in Mexico, etc. My son tells all kind of lies about traveling in Europe and SE Asia when he is juggling more than one girlfriend. He's a cad as well. It is an example of things immature cads say in their 20's & 30's when they are cheating on girlfriends and wives... I don't approve of it, but these are stupid things they say.
Did you know that Ron Grantski, Sharon Rocha's companion, was also Fishing on that same morning Dec 24, 2002 at the very SAME time... yet the Modesto police detective admitted in court on the witness stand that the Modesto police did not find out that Grantski was fishing until after Scott's trial had started. Did the police bother to interview anyone? How could they not interview someone who also had motive, opportunity and access? Especially her mother's companion... someone with the same alibi which Scott was prosecuted on. Read the court transcripts of Grantski's cross examination. He sounds like a bully.
Did you know that the robbery directly across the street from Laci occurred that morning of Dec 24, 2002. The neighbor who witnessed the robbery is on record having called it in that morning and was adamant about the date. The thieves only agreed to plead guilty if the date was changed to the 27th. The neighbors who owned the house returned home on Christmas and reported the theft to the police at the Peterson home. Other neighbors also reported the robbers on the 24th. All of this was buried by the police including Laci's getting involved.

Another review from "Angel Eyes":
I was an avid follower of Laci's story from the beginning when she dissapeared. I, feuled by the media reports was right on the band wagon screaming, "He's Guilty!!!" I said to myself and many others that even Stevie Wonder could see that this man was guilty and that he fully deserved whatever fate awaited him after the arrest. I cheered at the guilty verdict and kind of winced at the death penalty reccomendation and sentencing. I wanted him to have to live with what he had done. Then when the hoopla died down and I got to actually read court transcripts and realized the lack of foundation for the state's claim, I re-thought my position and the research began. Then came this book written by a former defense team investigator, I was riveted with every new revelation. I don't feel that what he is writing is conjecture. He has more inside knowledge than any other individual to produce a book yet. It completely turned my head around.
Now, more than ever, I am protesting that he should not have been found guilty in a court of law. There was reasonable doubt. Tons of it. I feel that Geragos didn't defend Scott as well as he could and should have.
This book will make you re-think your position on Scott Peterson. Even if you still think he is actually guilty, you will at least agree that there was sufficient evidence had it been presented and heard by the jury, that it would have cast enough reasonable doubt to exhonnerate Scott and maybe put a little more pressure on the police to go back and follow up on hidden leads that were never checked out.
It was just appalling to me how much information the law let fall underneath their noses, only to blind themselves to one theory and one suspect: Scott Peterson. The man never had a chance.
Hopefully, his appellate lawyers will get this all out and get Scott an aquittal. Yet, sadly, I feel he is there in San Quentin to stay. What is past is prologue. Soon, no-one will care. No-one except Scott's friends and family that love him.
"Good Advice" left this review:
I am amazed by the hostile reactions to this book. It is utterly absorbing. It takes you inside a complex, fascinating investigation, and presents powerful evidence that no one else has ever addressed -- and think of the endless one-sided chatter this case has generated. If you want to have an informed opinion about this case, Matt Dalton's book must be considered.
But I still think about Laci and Scott.
Especially in my kitchen. Part of what reeled me into this case was that Laci was just another California girl trying to keep the house clean---and I can so relate.
The other part was discovering the truth about the Modesto police and how they handled this case.
My company has changed location and work has --again-- gotten busier. The more people get laid off, the more work for the rest of us. I'm happy to have a job, and one that I like. I miss my colleagues. Life goes on and things change. But it's shut me down for the most part when it comes to writing.
Lately I've been listening to music that never crossed my desk before. It's music by people who've had lives so radically different than mine that I can never stand in their shoes. But I sure do hear them.
Being a newswriter, I see evidence every day that we do need law enforcement. There are scumbags out there running amok. Funnily enough, many of those scumbags only run amok on their own nearest and dearest, and that's why people think Scott did it. So I don't agree with the statement by Omali Yeshitela at the beginning of the song I posted below. Not completely, anyway--there's truth in it also.
But now that I've seen --with my own eyes-- the violent repression of peaceful protesters, including 80-year-old ladies, my feelings about the police are a lot more complicated.
A LOT more complicated.
I had a sort-of conversation online with the LAPD's press guy, Commander Smith. He replied anonymously, if it was him---the author of the alternative-journalism site I posted on seemed to think it was Smith. Smith, if it was him commenting back, ignored my concerns and replied that no one in L.A. supported "Occupy L.A."
Doesn't make a difference. Not to me. The right to protest is what drives policy in this country. It is one of our great traditions. Without protest, women would not be voting. We women can thank our predecessors for fighting the hard and sometimes violent fight to get the vote.
So, I've been listening to artists like Paris and Dead Prez lately. It's angry music. And somehow it feels good to feel the music that goes with that anger. It's a kind of strength of expression that cuts through the words. How can a person feel towards the society he or she lives in when the behavior of the state becomes more, and more, and more and more oppressive? When elections are stolen and "Justices" who should be impeached, aren't?
And that's just on the grand, national level. But you can't ignore it. Not when police departments around the country are acquiring heavy military equipment like tanks, from the military, for very little money if any. Check it out, Fargo, North Dakota, has a tank.
Washington, D.C. is very far away from a lot of us. But what goes down there, comes right home to us.
This is our country. What's happening there is happening to us here, for real, right now. It's not a movie, it's not a fiction. It's all around us, comes right on home, right on into our homes, with the demise of the 4th Amendment. Scott's situation is just one more window into the things that have been going horribly wrong. The fewer ordinary people get involved in saving the dignity and freedom in our communities, in our towns and our homes, the worse off we will be. I've said it before and I'll say it again--that some people were and are able to see beyond the entertainment-driven media spin and hatemongering about the Petersons gives me hope.
Just one more thing. There's a lot of violence in this video. I am personally against all violent acts. Just for the record. But who's the violence coming from? Who did it come from in the recent demonstrations in this country over economic injustice?
Not the people.
Well, anyway, here's Dead Prez.
Opening Brief Filed In Scott Peterson Appeal
Tom Harshman didn't testify.
Six credible witnesses who saw Laci walking the morning of December 24th after Scott had left for the Marina, including one neighbor who knew her because they had the same doctor, they did not testify either.
The jurors who were defense-friendly were removed from the jury. The jury that deliberated was actually the fourth version of the jury that had been seated after three jurors were removed, two during deliberations---and yes, the media played a role. In particular the media got Justin Falconer kicked off the jury because Nancy Grace made up a bunch of bs about something he supposedly said, and it played on TV all weekend even though it wasn't true.
Also, tv outlets broadcast, over and over again, "evidence" leaks that were absolute fictions, like the blood on the mop and Scott Just Bought Life Insurance.
For a REAL look at the case get Matt Dalton's book, or go to pwc-sii.com, or my blog, California Vs. Peterson.
If you've always wondered exactly why the guy got convicted, you're not alone. You have good reason to wonder "where's the evidence?" The answer is the police HID evidence. They "lost" evidence turned over to them by Lt. Aponte. They lied to Laci's family about that life insurance.
And Amber Frey got on the stand and testified without ever once telling the jury that she had a book deal that was contingent upon---you guessed it!!
Conviction!!!
__________Laci Peterson would not approve of the state of my closet.
In fact, I'm pretty sure she'd be appalled. Anyway, it's not too neat right now. And from the non-neatness yesterday morning I pulled my "Scott Peterson Defense Team" T-shirt and thought, OK here it is....and I haven't worn it yet to our new job site in Sherman Oaks. So let's wear it. Then---looking more closely---I decided I didn't want to wear it until it's laundered. But it was funny I pulled it out of the closet yesterday, just funny that it was right there on top of the pile where I'm sure it wasn't the day before. But I do not monitor the piles closely, so I can't say for sure. But it might have been the universe reaching out to remind me of this case. ....
This case blew my mind and served as an introduction to the complications and injustices of the legal system. Since it's such a famous case, followed so obsessively, it's remained a mystery to me why traditional media have shunned the evidence supporting Scott's innocence. In particular, last year I sent the Riverside Press-Enterprise an article and some research I had done summing up the Peterson case, along with links to Marlene's site and supporting documents. I never even had a response from them. And Riverside has a connection to the Peterson case because of what went down at the Norco Correctional Facility, where the evidence "lost" by the MPD originated.
There was no response or interest from the PE. It's clear the information is good because it's sourced from the transcripts and court documents--but, for whatever reason, neither the Press Enterprise nor any other commercial news outlets have aired the other side of the Peterson case, i.e. the numerous problems with it including the excluded evidence and prosecutorial chicanery.
I seem to recall Judge Delucci saying the Norco evidence didn't matter because it came from an inmate.
But it didn't come from an inmate, it came from the head of investigations at Norco, Lt. Xavier Aponte.
Just one thing he got wrong; but it wasn't just wrong, reality was the opposite of what he said.
Seems like the whole thing should be tossed out anyway because of the ravenous gerbils in Judge Delucci's head.

| LEDE |
Craig Lede allegedly beat Dana Nelson, 28, and John Ketsemidis, 29, over a drug debt of just $40.
It's thought all three were hooked on prescription drugs, which were linked to a pill clinic which has recently closed.
Lede told cops he killed the couple because he was tired of being "screwed about" over a small debt, so he'd killed the pair.
Sheriff Al Nienhuis told Bay News 9 that Ketsemidis and Nelson had gone to Lede’s home to talk about their debt when he attacked them with a bat.
According to the arrest warrant: "Once the victims were down and helpless, the defendant struck them in the head and upper body several times causing eventual death."
After taking the sick pictures, he stuffed Nelson's body into the trunk of her boyfriend's car and went to Ketsemidis' parents home where he demanded $40.
They refused to hand over the cash and called cops, when they saw he was driving his son's car.
After finding the bodies, police said that Lede confessed to the double murder.Sheriff Nienhuis added: "Although we cannot link this heinous and senseless crime directly to the abuse of prescription drugs, there is little doubt that it significantly contributed to the deaths of these two young people.
"This is a perfect example that prescription drug abuse is not a victimless or a non-violent crime."

It's unclear how successful the 69-year-old was with her eye-watering attack, but it's believed that she didn't do a Bobbit and completely sever her husbands member.
Her spouse 62, who's name has not been released called cops late Saturday and told them of the attack and when officers arrived they found him bleeding profusely and the bloody weapon nearby.
“They were more heavy duty than the standard office scissors,” Palm Springs Police Sgt. Kyle Stjerne told the Herald Sun, adding that they resembled poultry shears.
He added that the couple had been married for 32 years and the cause of Saturday’s fight remains under investigation.
He explained: “It was just a long-standing marital dispute, and we are not sure what caused her to do it."
Valdez was arrested on suspicion of mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and spousal abuse.
Online jail records say she was released Sunday and is scheduled to appear in court next month.
Police say the man was treated at a hospital for injuries in the penis area and released.
TODDLER BIANCA JONES SNATCHED IN CARJACKING

| KIDNAPPED? |
Bianca Jones was driving with her father Deandre Lane, 32, near their Detroit, MI home, when a man with a gun held him up and drove off in his silver Mercury Grand Marquis on Friday.
The alleged hijacker apparently hadn't noticed the child buckled into her car seat, but the car was recovered 10 minutes later, less than a mile away.
But the little girl was gone.
Police Chief Ralph Godbee, however said that the story from ex-con Lane, who is currently in custody on unrelated charges, remains in question.
He told the Free Press that they: "Will not comment on the quantity nor the quality of any evidence or information we have gathered to date.
"However, in the interest of allaying some of the fears of the public regarding the apparent randomness of Bianca's disappearance, the authenticity and credibility of the original version of events is under intense scrutiny by our investigative team."
A reward for information that leads to the child's return was increased to $17,500 after an anonymous donor contributed $15,000.
Godbee added the search remains "priority one."
Detroit police, along with the FBI, Michigan State Police, Wayne County Sheriff's Office and several community groups are scouring the city for the little girl.

Kenia Quiala Bosque arranged a meeting to hand over the newborn, unaware that the prospective buyer was an undercover cop.
Officers had been tipped about her intentions and launched a sting to catch out the dastardly parent.
But although she set a fee and arranged a meeting with the supposed buyer, she failed to show up to the meeting near her Miami, FL home.
Still, investigators said they had enough evidence to arrest her on baby selling charges.
The situation was "a sign of the times," Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle told NBC Miami when asked why the mother may have wanted to sell her child.
When she failed to show up Monroe County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement went to her home as they feared for the baby’s safety.
Sheriff Bob Peryam said: "We are just so glad we were able to obtain this information in time to intervene before anything could happen to endanger this child."
She has been charged with adoption violation and is being held in Miami-Dade jail on a $5,000 bond.

The grainy three-minute video, which appeared on Mundonarco.com Wednesday, depicts five shirtless men on their knees, their chests painted with large black "Z"s, surrounded by masked members of the Gulf cartel wielding machetes.

Each Zeta prisoner states his name for the camera, at the prompting of an unidentified voice behind the camera. When asked who sent them, each responds "Z-40." "40," as he is known within the Zetas organization, is Miguel Angel Treviño Morales -- the cartel's second-in-command. The U.S. has offered a $5 million reward for information leading to the capture of "40," and he and his two brothers are also under federal indictment in Texas for alleged laundering of cocaine profits through a U.S. horseracing venture.

UTAH West Jordan (Police search for KILLER) Victim 6 yr old girl
Sierra Lynn Newbold. Family photo. There are no leads as of yet in the death of 6-year-old Sierra Lynn Newbold, whose body was discovered Tuesday morning in a West Jordan, Utah, canal. She was found a half hour after being reported missing. West Jordan Police Chief Doug Diamond said that when Sierra’s mother called to report her missing, her husband had already left for work, and the family’s two other children were still home.
Sierra’s death has been ruled a homicide, and an autopsy revealed evidence that she was sexually assaulted. In order to protect the investigation, police are not releasing many facts of the case, including how long Sierra was dead before she was found. Also not released are the images recorded by a surveillance camera outside the Newbold house. The Newbold family has been cooperating throughout the investigation, police say.
During a press conference, Diamond said that there is no reason to panic but that ”there’s obviously a predator out there. Unfortunately, we have people out there who are monsters.” He advised families to lock their doors and watch children who are outside.
Makeshift memorials have been erected in Sierra’s neighborhood and at the school she was due to start attending in September.
AMERICAN photojournalist (MISSING) MEXICO (Covering CARTEL STORY)

The Mexican newspaper where Zane Alejandro Plemmons Rosales had been working disclosed Friday that the San Antonio resident had gone missing in the border town of Nuevo Laredo, the headquarters of the Zetas drug cartel, on the night of May 21. "[He] found himself at his hotel and, upon hearing gunshots, left for the street in order to cover the news," said the Mazatlan-based paper, El Debate. "Since then his whereabouts are unknown."
Plemmons' sister, Lizanne Sanchez, told a San Antonio television station that when she contacted his hotel, she was told that two masked, armed men had entered the hotel at 3 a.m., demanded his room keys from the receptionist, and removed all of this belongings. Sanchez said his bank accounts have not been touched.

TEXAS Highway Patrol (GUN BOATS) TO Fight (Drug CARTEL)
A new fleet of patrol boats is poised to join the battle along the Rio Grande and international lakes.

"This is what you call the bad boat. And indeed it is," said Steve McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

McCraw and other DPS officials were on hand at Decker Lake in east Travis County on Thursday to show off the first of six “shallow water interceptors”. Each vessel costs approximately $580,000 fully equipped. The funding comes from the Texas Legislature and federal grants.
The 34-foot long boats feature armored glass and armored hulls, along with 900-horsepower engines. The vessels sport 4 machine gun turrets and state of the art night vision cameras.
"It is fully capable of taking whatever threats they'll encounter. And there will be a full spectrum of threats, because we will be using this as an interdiction tool. The cartels continue to exploit, move ton quantities of drugs or humans across that river and those waterways. We need to be able to interdict those," said McCraw.

MUGGER ANTHONY MIRANDA & THE MMA FIGHTER
![]() |
| BATTERED |
Walking up to the car, he probably thought the gun in his hand would be enough to get a good score.
But what he hadn't banked on was his victim being a 6ft 2 and 250 pound mixed martial arts fighter who wasn't in the mood to be robbed.
After asking Justin, who did not wish his last name to be used, for a light, Miranda pulled the piece.
Justin told the Chicago Sun Times: "He asked me for my wallet, for my phone and my keys. I told him I don’t have a wallet, I only have cash. He cursed me — like ‘m-----f-----.’”Justin said he handed over the $30 in cash he had stuffed in a his car’s cup holder, but Miranda was not satisified.
After the gun jammed when he tried to rack it, picked up the bullet and ordered Justin out of the car telling him: "Look, m-----f-----, it’s a hollow point. I’ll blow your brains out.’”Looking at the man facing him, Justin said and was pretty certain he was about to take a bullet. But he remained calm and let his training take over. Grabbed the mugger's gun, he wrestled with him and laid the smack down on the would be thief.
By the time it was over Miranda had two black eyes and cuts to his face, but best of all he'd accidentally shot himself in the ankle with his own gun during the struggle.
Justin told officers at the scene that he was a mixed martial arts fighter.
Miranda was brought to a hospital for treatment before he was taken into custody on $350,000 bail on charges of armed robbery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

![]() |
| SICK |
Candice miller took the more than 1000 sick pics of her son and daughter, then 10 and 14 engaged in various sexual positions and could be seen performing sex acts on one of the children in some of them.
The 32-year-old admitted to her sick crime and admitted to e-mailing them to evil pedophile Steven Demink, 41, who persuaded women across America to sexually assault their kids as a form of therapy, by telling them he was a psychologist.
Prosecutors say Miller met Steven Demink online and they had graphic chats about Miller being nude around the 10 and 14-year-old victims and about Miller taking showers with them.
Investigators say the conversations progressed to the point where she and the man talked about sexually abusing the minors and capturing it on camera.
Court documents show that Demink targeted single mothers, and in some cases, promised a date if they followed through with his directions.
He also talked to an Oregon woman about the sexual development of her eight-year-old autistic son, telling her to engage in sexually explicit conduct with her son as a way to teach him about sex.
She did so while Demink watched on a web camera.
He was jailed for life, the sentence which Miller faced.
Instead she only got 25 years for her role in the sick scheme.

HULK SMASH: NUDE BODYBUILDER RUBEN AZRU ATTACK
But instead of radiation from a gamma bomb, I think we can safely put this one down to roid rage.
Cops say that naked, 300lb, bodybuilder, Ruben Azru vicously attacked a couple in their San Bernadino, CA, home.
Officers explained that the couple arrived home to find the nude muscleman on their front porch, but whe the 35-year-old husband confronted him, Azru exploded and began pummelling the guy.
Colton police Cpl. Ray Mendez told the San Bernadino Sun: "The suspect violently attacked the husband, causing major head trauma and injuries.
"As the husband is getting beaten, the wife comes out and the suspect shifts his attention to her."
Azru then picked up and threw the woman around, causing facial injuries and multiple deep cuts to the top of her head.
Mendez added: "It's a good thing our officers arrived on scene so quickly."
Azru fled the scene after the attack but neighbors surrounded him in a backyard of another home, but he wasn't done yet.
Officers tried to taser the mad meathead, but he didn't respond to it.
Mendez explained: "It took four police officers to handcuff him and it took four sets of handcuffs to restrain him."
Arzu was booked on suspicion of attempted homicide, while his victims were receiving treatment.
GEEZER BANDIT STRIKES AGAIN: LOSES DAY PLANNER
HE MIGHT be old, but that hasn't stopped the elderly bank robber dubbed the "geezer bandit" from needing a calender. Quite how the brazen thief, wanted in more than six heists will know which financial institution to rob next is unclear. But investigators are now forensically examining a day planner that the thief dropped on their last job at a Bank of America in San Luis Obispo, CA.
During the robbery, a teller placed some cash and red dye in a bag, which the suspect placed in his day planner before running off.
Capt. Chris Staley of the San Luis Obispo police told CBS LA: "I think the shock of the dye pack actually exploding in the bag created a diversion enough for him to obviously drop both the money and the other items that he was carrying.
The FBI also recently revealed that the masked robber may, in fact, not be a "geezer" at all, and could even be a woman.
Whoever they are, the "Geezer Bandit" is wanted for robbing banks in Temecula, Bakersfield and Goleta.
A $20,000 reward has been offered for information leading to his - or her - arrest and conviction.
